DON’T MISS THE PCQHA SUMMER CELEBRATION July 2 – 6, 2008 in Watsonville, CA!! THIS WILL BE THE ONE SHOW YOU DO NOT WANT TO MISS THIS SUMMER!!! CHECK THIS OUT!!!
_________________________________________________________________________
A new day has been added to the show. It will start on Wednesday, July 2 with a single judged show featuring Halter classes, Barrel Racing, Pole Bending, Cutting and Working Cow Horse. We will also be offering NSHA (National Stock Horse Association) approved cow horse classes. There will be no youth classes on Wednesday, but the remaining 4 days will be split/combined (double judged) and feature a complete class schedule for everyone. There will also be several social get-togethers for all of the exhibitors and LOADS of wonderful awards including saddles, buckles, equipment and more!

The National Stock Horse Association has joined up with PCQHA on the Summer Celebration and we will be offering “Dual Approval”. We will also be offering a Youth Limited Cow Horse Class as well. So, all you Youth riders who have always wanted to try the Working Cow Horse Classes, but are not ready to “go down the fence”, here is your chance. A simple Reining pattern followed by “boxing” a cow is all that is required from a rider. This is not an approved AQHA class but is approved by the NSHA, as well as the Non Pro Green Working Cow Horse (for those Amateurs who don’t want to “go down the fence” either.)

The Pacific Coast Quarter Horse Association posted a strong financial year in 2007. “We met the majority of our financial goals last year due to the strong attendance of our PCQHA members at approved shows.” stated Marc Ristow, PCQHA Board Member and Finance Committee Chairman. “We are monitoring this year more closely due to the fuel price and the potential recession situations, but to date we have not seen a drop off in the number of entries at shows.”

The Youth Qualifying show in Woodland on April 3 - 6 was really fun! The weather was great and the facility had nice arenas with good footing. The show was held at the Historic Nelson Ranch. There was a really neat brick home over 100 years old, and the kids had so much fun exploring and trying to scare each other in the house. Boo!

Also new this year is the 2008 EMO / PCQHA High Point Horse of the Year award which will be given to the horse earning the most total PCQHA points all divisions combined.
